Green Sas Project
Case Study

Green Sas is a sustainable e-commerce app focused on promoting conscious consumerism. It helps users discover and purchase eco-friendly products with trust and transparency. I identified a key challenge: users struggle to find trustworthy, certified eco-products. This gap inspired the design of a solution that builds user confidence while encouraging sustainable shopping behavior. As the lead designer, I handled user research, wireframing, and prototyping to create a minimal, intuitive interface aligned with eco-conscious values.

Project Goal

To design a e-commerce website & app that supports sustainable products

Challenge

Design a gamified sustainable shopping app that educates and motivates users to make eco-friendly purchases. The app should use gamification mechanics to drive behavior change, making sustainability an interactive and rewarding journey. This problem statement was given during an UI/UX competition named "App-Nova" at their Annual TechFest Cognizance at IIT Roorkee.

Results

The Green Sas app and website, designed during my time at IIT Roorkee, deliver a seamless platform for promoting eco-friendly products and sustainable living. The interface combines a clean, modern design with intuitive navigation, making it easy for users to explore and shop consciously. A unique gamification system awards users points for eco-friendly purchases and sustainable actions, encouraging continued engagement and loyalty. The responsive design ensures smooth performance across devices, while consistent branding and visually appealing layouts create a cohesive and impactful user experience.

Green Sas App Design

Process

Research & Analysis: We conducted user interviews, surveys, and analyzed in-app analytics to understand the pain points and user needs. We also studied competitor apps and industry trends to gather insights

Information Architecture: Based on the research findings, we restructured the app's navigation and content, prioritizing features and information according to user needs.

Wireframing & Prototyping: We designed low-fidelity wireframes to visualize the new layout and navigation, iteratively refining them based on user feedback. Afterward, we built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype to test the design.

Usability Testing: We conducted usability tests with a diverse group of users to validate the design and identify areas for improvement. Based on the feedback, we made necessary adjustments to the design.

Visual Design & Style Guide: We developed a cohesive visual language, including color schemes, typography, and iconography, ensuring consistency throughout the app. We also created a style guide to maintain design consistency in future updates.
